Quartz countertops are well known for their performance and beauty. Also, they can add extra value to each home. Natural quartz is among the strongest materials and it is quite difficult to scratch, chip or crack. Quartz countertops require low maintenance and all you will have to do is to wipe its surface with some warm water. Resealing or chemical treatments are not required in its case. 

Quartz countertops are remarkable consistent and you will not have to worry about the original pattern or color. This natural material is also resistant to staining and this occurs due to its high density – this means that your quartz countertop will not change its color over time.

Maintenance tips:

  • When you are caring for your quartz countertop, you will have to cleanse its surface by using only non-abrasive cleaners. For instance, you can go for some hot and soapy water and a soft washcloth in order to clean the quartz surface.
  • Avoiding bleach is a key factor when it comes to maintaining your quartz countertop in a perfect condition. Even if quartz countertops are pretty resistant to acids, chemicals and heat, you should use hot coasters and pads in order to protect their surface.
  • Also, it’s not advisable to se your quartz countertop as a surface for cutting – go for cutting boards in order to prevent any possible scratches. Additionally, you should place oils, wines and vinegars on decorative surfaces or trays in order to protect the quartz surface from possible spilling.
Repair tips:

  • Even if repair is likely to be rarely required since quartz is extremely resistant to scratches and chips, you should pay attention to the following tips in order to take proper care of possible damage. Start by cleaning the quartz countertop thoroughly – you will have to include the chipped area too and you should use an ammonia-based cleanser in order to do this.
  • Also, a dry and clean rag is to be used in order to remove all the traces of grime and dirt. Go for fast acting glue and squirt only a small amount into the crack or chip and make sure that you fill it right to the top. Next, you will have to allow this glue to sit for at least 24 hours in order to be completely set. 
  • Next, you will have to use a razor blade and held it at exactly 45 degrees in order to scrape across the excess dried glue until the surface is perfectly flat. Use fine sandpaper in order to smooth the quartz surface. Then, wipe the surface with a damp and soft cloth in order to remove any shavings.
